Vineyards of the Surrey Hills sparkling 2013 retrospective by John Mobbs at Great British Wine

To explore the age-worthiness of English sparkling wines, John Mobbs at Great British Wine has reviewed a cross-section of our sparkling wines from 2013 (2017 for Chilworth Manor Vineyard, as their first commercial vintage).

After relocating to Surrey in 2013, John discovered great wines were on his doorstep and set about exploring the world of English wine - launching the Great British Wine website in 2015.

He has been a great champion for our vineyards and English wine ever since, and has regularly hosted Vineyards of the Surrey Hills tastings at events.

John’s latest article makes for a fascinating read, featuring wines from Albury, Chilworth, Denbies, Greyfriars and High Clandon while highlighting some of the many changes on our Surrey Hills wine route over the past decade.

The Surrey Hills wines featured are:

• Albury Estate Classic Cuvée 2013

• High Clandon ‘The Elysium’ Cuvée 2013

• Chilworth Manor Brut 2017

• Greyfriars Blanc de Blancs 2013

• Denbies Cubitt Blanc de Noirs 2013

You can read the Surrey Hills retrospective tasting in full on the Great British Wine website, which provides a fascinating insight into the English wine industry and regularly includes reviews of our wines.

If you’ve recently enjoyed a Vineyards of the Surrey Hills wine from one of the earlier vintages, we’d love to hear about it via social media or our contacts page.
