Vineyards of the Surrey Hills collaboration strikes gold!

The quality, local provenance and sustainability of Vineyards of the Surrey Hills has been officially acknowledged with the awarding of a coveted Gold Trade Mark at Surrey Hills Enterprises annual celebration in Leatherhead on Tuesday July 18.

One of only two organisations to receive the prestigious award this year, Vineyards of the Surrey Hills is a collaboration between Albury Organic Vineyard, Chilworth Manor Vineyard, Denbies Wine Estate, Greyfriars Vineyard and High Clandon Estate Vineyard.

Formed in 2019 to champion wine tourism in the Surrey Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, this latest award recognises the exemplary collaboration between the five vineyards, the level of environmental sustainability, support for and connection with the Surrey Hills and the range of experiences and activities offered.

“It’s a huge honour for us to receive this year’s Gold Trade Mark Award,” says Nick Wenman, chairman of Vineyards of the Surrey Hills.

“To be recognised for our commitment to sustainability, as well as our collaboration with each other and other local businesses, is especially rewarding. Many thanks to all our local partners and suppliers for their invaluable support.”

An exciting year for wine in the Surrey Hills

The award continues an exciting year for our group, which has already seen thousands of wine lovers visit the Surrey Hills for a series of special events as part of Vineyards of the Surrey Hills’ first Summer Spectacular weekend during English Wine Week in June.

The summer months leading up to harvest in autumn are an incredibly vibrant time at Vineyards of the Surrey Hills, with regular tours and tastings, special events and even, later in the year, hands-on harvesting experiences offering the perfect opportunity to experience English wine at its very best.

With the vineyards only 20 miles from London and each having its own unique offering and spectacular scenery, the Surrey Hills wine route proves that you don’t have to travel hundreds of miles for an award-winning grape escape.
